Program Goal:

This program is designed to provide technical information, management techniques and training resources for Range Masters and/or Advanced Firearms Instructors. The program expands Firearms Instructor and Range Master knowledge base and operational skill in the areas of program management, range operations and instructor development. Tactical skills development and training are also included.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will understand:

• Departmental policy and legal considerations

• Firearms training program development and sustainment

• Shooting range design, operations and management

• Shooting range safety and environmental considerations

• Firearms storage and maintenance requirements

• Firearms instructor training and development

• Interactive use of force scenario development

• Principles of coaching in shooter training

• Methods to resolve common shooter mistakes

• Additional range master and instructor resources and materials

Prerequisites:

• Proof of current law enforcement, military or private security status

• Proof of agency instructor status

Required Equipment:

• Duty belt

• Holster

• Wrap-around, ballistic eye protection

• Ear protection

• Pistol ammunition: 500 rounds

• Shotgun ammunition: 500 rounds

• Note-taking materials
